An English Teacher Laments...

Sometimes people neglect to realize that we only get one life- such a simple concept, yet so overwhelmingly complexing.  But it doesn't have to be.  In fact, our existence ultimately morphs into  another's memory - beyond our control... quite an existential quandary.

In class today we discussed the importance of leading a purpose driven life. I attempted to explain that when an individual actually has a purpose, a sense of meaning regarding their role in the universe... that they often are more fulfilled, happy, and overall more successful.  The question was raised:  what is your purpose?  What is your role in the world?  How are you going to spend the one precious, fragile life you have?  Crickets.  There's always tomorrow.

  1. Purpose is an important factor, but sometimes people get so caught up in discovering their purpose that they neglect to experience and explore—that’s sad, isn’t it?
